Our Family Holiday to Sri Lanka itinerary combines safari and beach along with a number of super-fun child focused activities for the whole family to enjoy. Trekking up Mini Adam’s Peak, cycling through villages and paddy fields and we even manage to get a little culture in to broaden your little darlings’ horizons. And of of this, of course, with a carefully selected experiential hotels that cater for youngsters.
On arrival, you’ll jump in your car with your chauffeur guide and make your way to Ellerton Bungalow, just outside Kandy. In this spectacular location, you’ll recuperate whilst the kids can get out and about on mountain bikes to go exploring with a guide on safe rural paths to see local villages and the Sri Lankan countryside. You’ll all enjoy a visit to the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, Sri Lanka’s most sacred site.
You would be forgiven for thinking that Gal Oya National Park is like a scene from the Jungle Book. Here your safari holiday begins. You go out by Land Rover and boat to see the majestic wildlife and might even spot the Asian elephant swimming in Sri Lanka’s second largest lake. Luxurious Gal Oya Lodge will be your base from which you’ll set out on safari into the teeming jungle.
The long, sandy beaches on the East coast of Sri Lanka are the perfect place to take the kids for some R&R towards the end of your tour of Sri Lanka. The gentle breakers close to the Jetwing Surf are a perfect playground for the youngsters. They will be endlessly entertained with surfing and bodyboarding lessons provided by the hotel’s instructors. When they tire of the waves, the swimming pool beckons or they can even join in a game of beach cricket with the locals. And all the while you can relax and enjoy the immersive rustic luxury that runs through this special corner of Sri Lanka.
As you leave the East Coast, you’ll head towards Tangalle. Your last couple of days will be spent in the tranquility of Villa Maya, set amongst the paddy fields. The children can run around the huge garden, fly kites and play garden games with the staff whilst you can chill out in cane planters chairs with a pot of Ceylon tea or retreat to your suite for an in-room massage. On the final morning of your amazing family holiday in Sri Lanka, your ever dutiful chauffeur guide will be waiting to take you to the airport for your flight home.
