Golden Triangle & Goa
If you are short on time but want to go big on experience, our Golden Triangle & Goa tour is a hot ticket for a luxury India holiday. Yes… we know it doesn’t really go down the road less travelled as far as the destinations are concerned but even iconic monuments such as the Taj Mahal and the Amber Palace can be experienced without the masses with Yonder. Make no mistake, this is a classic crowd pleaser that, when done right, provides a sublime combination of culture in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, plus blissful relaxation in southern Goa.
As you jet in, you go into immediate sensory overdrive with the feast of colours, smells and sights that will appear before you. Old Delhi, in the shadow of the Red Fort, is bustling, busy and beautiful. Its maze of streets, thronging with people, rickshaws and animals, is an experience unlike any other. You’ll escape the marvellous madness of Delhi by train and arrive in Agra, home of the Taj Mahal, a place of serenity and tranquility, as well as love and devotion, of course.
Next it’s on to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan and overflowing with history and culture. You’ll be overawed by spectacular palaces and observatories, no to mention the humdrum of life unfolding inside the old walls of the Pink City. And on the final leg of your Golden Triangle & Goa holiday, you’ll fly to the famous Indian beachside state of Goa for some well deserved R&R.
As you walk out of the arrivals hall, you’ll be greeted by the friendly wave of your dedicated Yonder guide and chauffeur. You’ll gently weave through the traffic to The Imperial, Delhi’s grand colonial era hotel. Once you’ve acclimated and are ready to venture out, your Yonder guide will be waiting to take you into this great city. There is nothing quite as mesmerising as a walking tour through the mayhemic streets of Old Delhi although it can also be done by rickshaw if you want an authentic alternative. A few other key sites will be visited using your car, including Humayun’s tomb, Gandhi’s eternal flame and India Gate.
We always recommend leaving Delhi by train and Agra is the ideal destination to head for. Although it’s an early morning start, you’ll see the cogs of Delhi starting to turn as people go about their daily routine. The view from the first class carriage on the journey out of the city is fascinating as you pass through suburbs and slums before hitting open countryside. In Agra, check into the Oberoi Amarvilas with its direct view towards the Taj Mahal. Spend a couple of days at the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Chandni Bazaar
Jaipur, Rajasathan’s capital, never fails to deliver. The sounds, sights and smells of the Pink City are spellbinding. When you get up close and personal with the beautiful architecture and the scientific advancement of the maharajas, you can’t fail to be impressed. And perhaps the crowning glory is the spectacular fairytale Ajmer Fort, high on a hill a short drive from Jaipur.
You’ll fly from Jaipur to Goa airport where you will be met by your new Yonder driver who will seamlessly transport you to the gloriously sandy beaches of Southern Goa. Your home for the next few days will be the Leela Goa, a cocoon of perfection, sandwiched between the Arabian Sea and a stunning lagoon. The old Goan philosophy of ‘susegad’, or carefree lifestyle, has never rung so true.
